Synology DS425+ Overview

The DiskStation DS425+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology is a capable performer with tools to help you secure, back up, and sync your data and media. Built-in solutions available in Synology's DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS let users their own private cloud, organize and stream music, video, and photo collections across all devices, seamlessly collaborate with partners, set up an intuitive surveillance , and more. The DS425+ is equipped with four drive bays that are capable of natively supporting 3.5" SATA hard drives as well as 2.5" SATA hard drives and SSDs. Performance may be boosted via dual M.2 2280 slots, which may be used to an NVMe cache.

The DS425+ runs on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating which helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. Its CPU is a 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron J4125 4-Core with a burst frequency of up to 2.7 GHz, and its 2GB of DDR4 RAM, which can be upgraded to 6GB, allows frequently used files and applications to be quickly accessed. Using its 2.5 Gigabit and Gigabit Ethernet ports, which support link aggregation and failover, this NAS is capable of sequential read speeds up to 278 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 281 MB/s. Also available are two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports.

For those who RAID support, the DS425+ supports RAID 0 and 1, 5, 6, 10, as well Synology Hybrid RAID and Basic RAID, each of which offers performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not a RAID, JBOD is also available, allowing each drive bay to be individually utilized. Operations are kept cool using dual 92mm fans and included is an accessory pack, an AC power adapter, an AC power cord, and two RJ45 LAN cables.
